We’re looking for a Systems Accountant to take ownership of our finance function and internal ERP system, with responsibility for all aspects of financial management including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.
This is a key role within the business, ensuring the integrity of financial information and supporting strategic decision-making through robust analysis and reporting. You’ll play a critical role in driving data quality, systems improvements, and effective use of our finance technology in line with business needs.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Systems Accountant will work closely with the Embridge Board, Senior Management Team, colleagues across all departments, and external stakeholders including client contacts and suppliers. Key responsibilities include:
ERP system administration and improvement
- Administer and maintain the internal Unit4 ERPx software.
- Lead ongoing systems improvements and data quality initiatives in line with business needs.
Financial management and analysis
- Prepare and analyse monthly financial statements, including variance analysis against budget.
- Oversee finance operations including payroll, cashflow management, and debtor monitoring.
- Conduct thorough financial analysis to support decision making, identify trends and recommend strategies to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Prepare financial models to project business scenarios and assess profitability.
Planning and compliance
- Coordinate and prepare annual budgets and a 12 month rolling forecasts.
- Liaise with external accountants to produce statutory accounts and prepare for the year-end audit.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
Collaboration and reporting
- Work with Sales Operations to ensure accurate reporting of the sales pipeline.
Key skills and experience include:
- Part qualified Accountant working towards full qualification.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting and controls.
- At least 5 years’ accounting experience.
- Confident communicator.
- The ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
Desirable but not essential:
- Familiarity with Unit4 ERP.
- Experience working with Power BI, Excel modelling or similar reporting tools.
- Prior experience in a consultancy, professional services or project-based business.
