The Unit4 Technical User Group event, hosted by the User Group Council, brought together Unit4 experts, technical users and integration specialists for a day of engaging discussions and practical insights. Held at the SS Great Britain in Bristol on Thursday 20th March, the event provided a fitting venue for forward-thinking conversations especially on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year so far!
With a strong focus on automation, integration and AI, the event was packed with valuable sessions, including a presentation presented by Dave Whybrow, Technical Solutions Consultant, Embridge Consulting. Dave was joined by and Rebecca Quinn, Head of Customer Success and both were delighted to attend and present at the event.
Exploring the power of the Unit4 Extension Kit
Dave Whybrow took to the stage to deliver a session on the Unit4 Extension Kit, walking the audience through:
- The journey of the Extension Kit so far, including key features and major releases.
- How to get started with it, from setup to real-world implementation.
- Live demonstrations, including a no-code workflow and a more advanced use case leveraging Liquid and JavaScript scripting.
Reflecting on the experience, Dave Whybrow said:
“Integration isn’t just about making systems talk to each other, it’s about creating real business value through automation and streamlined workflows. The engagement from the audience was fantastic, with plenty of insightful questions that showed how much interest there is in taking Unit4 integrations to the next level.”
One of the standout moments from the session came at the very start. Dave opened by asking the audience to stand and then posed two questions:
Q1: “If you don’t know what the Extension Kit is, sit down.” – No one moved.
Q2: “If you know what it is but haven’t used it yet, sit down.” – Roughly 80% of the room sat.
This simple exercise highlighted both strong awareness of the Extension Kit and the huge potential for deeper adoption among Unit4 users.
A day of insightful discussions and networking
Beyond the Extension Kit session, the event featured a line-up of expert speakers, each covering key topics aligned with the themes of automation, AI, and integration best practices. The atmosphere was relaxed yet purposeful, with ample opportunities for networking.
For Dave and Becky, reconnecting with former colleagues, current customers, and fellow Unit4 users was a particular highlight. The conversations, knowledge-sharing, and real-world problem-solving made it a valuable experience for all attendees.
And, of course, there was an added bonus, a chance to explore the SS Great Britain during the lunch break!
