Learn how to use Report Studio to create and amend Xtra reports. This course is delivered on your environment for the additional benefit of understanding your reporting requirements and data.

Summary

Understanding the architecture of complex reports is a highly prized skill as it allows users to confidently create and manage the more involved reporting requirements of your staff making more of your key data accessible for relevant analysis.

Aimed at the more technical user, this one-day course will provide an understanding of how to create and maintain complex system reports using the Unit4 Report Studio functionality, providing you with a unique internal skillset to allow you to manage your reporting outputs without additional consultancy.

Learning outcomes

This is a 1-day advanced reporting course using the Unit4 ERPx Report Studio.

Currently needs to be on Customer Environment – support on customers reports.

The objectives of this course are to help you understand:

  • Amend bespoke and system delivered reports
  • RESQL and making data sets
  • Creating Xtra reports from scratch
  • Server Reporting and Report Parameters

Good technical and functional understanding of Unit4 ERP.

Prerequisites

Access to customer environment prior to the course, with 2 hours pre-preparation time.

Session 1

Report Engine Fundamentals

In this session you will get an overview and introduction to Report Engine in Unit4 ERP.

The areas it will explain are:

What is the Report Engine?
Latest Version, Installation and Updates
Report Engine in Unit4 ERP
Server Reporting and Report Parameters

Session 2

Report Architect

In this session you will get an overview and introduction to Report Architecture to familiarise with Report Studio, understand how to create local datasets and manipulate and handle data, for output.

The areas it will explain are:

  • Report Studio Fundamentals
  • Syntax & Code – .resql file
  • Gather and Handling Data
  • Start a brand new .rerx Report

Session 3

Report Design

In this session you will get an introduction to Report Design in Report Engine to gain an understanding of the different outputs available.

The areas it will explain are:

  • Fundamentals of Report Design and different outputs
  • Report Designer application fundamentals
  • Designing an Xtra Report – .repx file
  • Running the report from U4 ERP menu

Session 4

Report Migration

In this session you will get an overview of the main differences between the Report Architecture and how to migrate the different version.

  • Migrating code from the old ARC report file to ReSQL
  • Running the wizard to convert ARC into Xtra layout report
