London, October 13, 2022 – Emma O’Brien, Founder of Embridge Consulting, has been named a Rising Star as part of LDC’s Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders programme for 2022.
Created by LDC, the private equity arm of LIoyds Banking Group, and supported by the Times, The Top 50 celebrates, the inspiring leaders behind some of the UK’s most successful and fast-glowing medium-sized firms.
Now in its fifth year, a record number of nominations – more than 750 – were received this year, proving that ambition is alive and well despite the challenges faced by increasing economic uncertainty.
The accolades were given out after an intense judging session, during which this year’s judging panel of Carl Castledine, CEO of Away Resorts; Jan Steele, Founder of Only the Brave Health, Nisha Katona MBE, Founder of Mowgli Street Food; John Garner, Managing Partner of LDC; and Kate Bassett, editor of The Top 50 2022 selected the final award winners.
Emma launched her own digital transformation consultancy, Embridge Consulting, in 2009 after being made redundant. Today, she employs 75 people, 40 subcontractors and works with clients ranging from St James’s Place to Surrey County Council. She’s also achieved her quest of a good work-life balance.
“Emma has proven what can be achieved when you don’t want to settle for second best. Work-life balance was crucial for her, and she’s maintained the balance she set out to achieve whilst still building a fantastic business. A real inspiration to others and a deserving Rising Star. Those featured in The Top 50 this year are a real source of inspiration; they prove that great things can be achieved even when times get tough. Having backed the ambitions of British businesses for more than 40 years, we know just how important it is to celebrate the people who are driving companies forward, generating growth and creating jobs. I’d like to congratulate all of The Top 50 for 2022, especially our award winners! They demonstrate the positive impact of ambition and show exactly what British business leaders are made of.”
John Garner, Managing Partner, LDC
It was an absolute honour just to be recognised in this prestigious group and to be invited to the fantastic event at the beautiful Landsdown Club in London last night. But then to be announced as one of the overall winners – that was a complete surprise and I feel very humbled! To be recognised as a Rising Star is very special because there’s definitely more to come from me and the Embridge team! Last night was a night I won’t forget in a long time! I thanked my team, my husband and my children when I made the Top 50, but this win is as much about all of them as it is me because I really couldn’t do it without them – so thank you all again!”
