Learn how to create, manage and visualise your data using our ‘Modeler’ tool which supports in-system organisation chart analysis for efficient hierarchy reporting.

Summary

Restructures are one of the most complicated processes an organisation can face so this course shows how the Unit4 ERP Modeler tool can eliminate these risks by allowing users to sculpt their structure inside the solution, showing all details in familiar on-screen charts with drag and drop capability for effective unit movement.

Removing costly and time-consuming maintenance of multiple structures, this course will provide an understanding of the tool, how to create your own structure views and support ‘best practice’ for the collection of reporting line analysis, and management information.

Learning outcomes

The objectives of this course are to help you create your own structures using the Unit4 ERP Modeler tool, manage what if scenarios, and understand how Modeler can be used for a number of business critical processes:

  • Understand the purpose of Modeler and structures, and how they interact
  • Be able to view and interpret a structure
  • Be able to create a structure, specifically an organisation chart, and view it in Modeler
  • Understand the purpose of dynamic zoom and be able to build a simple dynamic zoom capability for use in structures
  • Be able to implement a relational change based on Modeler, including creating a draft structure and getting it approved
  • Understand and be able to use structures in workflow
  • Be able to use structures for ‘What If’ scenarios

Session 1

Modeler Overview

In this session you will get an introduction to the Unit4 ERP Modeler tool and understand the:

  • Difference between Modeler and Structures
  • Benefits of Using Modeler
  • Prerequisites for Using Modeler and Structures

Session 2

Structure Elements Overview

In this session you will get an understanding of the elements that make up a Modeler Structure.

Your will cover:

  • Description of Structure Setup Window
  • Identification area
  • Structure Levels
  • Alternative Level Connections
  • Responsible Values
  • Commands
  • Looking at Prebuilt Structure
  • Viewing the Structure in Modeler

Session 3

Building a Structure

In this session, you will build a structure and then look at the visual hierarchy of that structure in Modeler to create your own organisation chart.

You will cover how to:

  • Create a New Structure
  • View a New Structure in Modeler
  • Modify a Structure
  • Use the Dynamic Zoom feature

Session 4

Dynamic Zoom feature

In this session you will be given an overview of the Dynamic Zoom function to gain an understanding of the additional information that can relate to the item being displayed.

You will cover:

  • Viewing Dynamic Zoom Windows
  • Creating a New Dynamic Zoom Window
  • Modifying Structure with New Dynamic Zoom

Session 5

Implementing a Relational Change

In this session you will gain an understanding of how to action a relational change using the Unit4 ERP Modeler tool.

Your will use example scenarios to:

  • Creating a Draft
  • Approving a Draft
  • Confirming That Approval Has Taken Effect

Session 6

Using Structures in Workflow Distribution Rules

In this session covers you will understand how distribution rules will be used to support workflow approval of requisitions using structures.

You will cover:

  • Setting Up Distribution Rules for User Steps
  • Testing the Workflow Process

Session 7

Using Structures for Reporting in Browsers

In this session you will cover using structures in information Browsers, especially for ‘What If’ scenarios using the following steps:

  • View Browser report on Division / Section finances
  • Create a new ‘What If’ Browser for financial comparisons
  • Create a draft structure and implement proposed changes
  • Perform a ‘Generate structure result’ ordered report
  • Modify the ‘What If’ Browser to include structure
  • View and compare the two Browser reports
  • Implement the change via workflow approval
