Embridge Consulting team building summer 2018
It’s that time of year again where the Embridge Consulting team get to shake their tambourines, hold hands, get happy clappy and bond on a higher spiritual level.
Yup! The Embridge Consulting team building summer 2018 event was upon us again!
Except in true Embridge style, the levitation got totally binned off and instead we opted to get down and dirty with some action packed, lung shrieking activities in the middle of a remote field somewhere in the vicinity of the south west of England.
This year we swapped our glad rags and annual sophisticated River Thames soiree for a totally different experience which required sensible clothing, sporting a team bandana and getting seriously brave as we tentatively stepped outside our comfort zones!
With the group split into 6 teams and going head to head against each other, one by one we shakily negotiated our way around a super tricky obstacle course on Segways, took on the Italian Job speeding around a racetrack in mini coopers, and donned a pair of nylons to shoot some arrows like Robin Hood and Fryer Tuck.
Some were more scared than others whilst some were so competitive – it really was all about the winning and not the taking part! Lack of concentration saw a member of the red team destroy part of the obstacle course with their Segway, whilst another member from Team Pink ignored the chicane on the racing track and took a little detour into a pile of tyres!
Guffawing, belly clenching laughing, cheering and squealing echoed around the fields for 3 hours as we competed against one another and as the hilarity subsided and the points were totted up, it was the Black Team that came out on top and were crowned the overall winners of the day.
The very words TEAM BUILDING can often inject fear and cringe into staff and the instant desire to dive under the nearest desk to avoid any embarrassing scenarios, but here at Embridge we see these exercises as not only crucial to building skills like communication, planning, problem-solving and conflict resolution, but they also encouraging collaboration and teamwork.
Work can often be all about work and nothing else – right? Wrong!
Embridge Consulting absolutely believes in hard work, but also absolutely believes in giving back to those that make it happen. We even have a dedicated in-house team, The Chief Fun Committee exclusively devoted to listening to its employees and their ideas for improvement and change within the work place, which are then shared with management. In effect, Management are giving the power to its workers by asking them what they want. Embridge employees get to choose how to stay motivated! Neat!
