Summary
Payroll, is arguably one of the most critical operations in any company, and this course supports payroll delegates enabling them to efficiently understand the Unit4 ERP Payroll processing, enhancing the function whilst simultaneously reducing processing errors, single failure points, and compliance risk.
This familiarisation course for Unit4 Payroll will provide your attendees with the tools to optimise their payroll processing, plus promote understanding of the elements that make up an employee’s pay within Unit4 ERP, allowing them to handle different pay scenarios efficiently whilst supporting the ultimate goal of providing compliant statutory UK reporting to HMRC.

Course Structure
Session 1
Personnel
In this session you will gain an understanding of the fields within the Unit4 ERP Resource master file which have an impact on payroll, and how resources are managed for Payroll from the master file record.
The master file is a generic screen used by multiple modules within Unit4 ERP. The variation discussed in this course is found in the Payroll module and includes some fundamental elements i.e. how the payroll runs and how the payroll is calculated.
You will learn about:
- Relations
- Payroll Information
- Employments
- Rates and Balances
- New Starter Details
- Leaver Details
Session 2
Resource Setup
In this session you will gain an understanding of some of the key items that can be setup on a resource in order to deduct or pay values. Setup is via the resource master file and in the ‘Tools’ menu.
Some of the processes you will learn about are:
- Fixed PDs
- Court Orders
- Pensions
- Student Loans
- Variable Payroll Transactions
- Absence
Session 3
How Payroll is Calculated
This session will focus on how the Unit4 ERP calculates the output values that are used for the payment transactions during a pay run. This is done through a variety of complex means and uses everything from sessions 1 and 2 to make these calculations.
The main focus of the session will be:
- Value References
- Value Reference Rates
- Balance Deductions
- Payment and Deductions (PDs)
We will also revisit the payment example from our earlier session to see how all of these elements come together.
Session 4
Payroll Processing
This session with provide understanding of the sequence of processing required to successfully action a payroll. Payroll Processing must be carried out in a specific order so this session will cover:
- Mass posting
- Back Pay
- Transfer of Absences
- Payment Processing (Proposal and Confirmation)
- Auto Enrolment
- Payslip Generation
- BACS Generation
- RTI Reporting
- Supplementary Pay Runs, Overpayments and Payroll Reversal
