Summary

The workshop will cover; an introduction to API’s, the differences between SOAP and REST API’s, micro services v’s monolithic architecture, Unit4 config dependencies, Unit4 API driven use cases and making use of testing tools.

Course Structure

Session 1

This session will introduce the key concepts of an API including the concept of abstraction.

Session 2

This session will explore the differences between web services and public API’s including the pre-requisites and benefits of each. The session will draw on real life examples to bring the concepts to life.

Session 3

This session focusses on the Unit4 shift from a monolithic to micro services architectures and explores the impact and opportunities this presents for extending, integrating and automating the ERP.

Session 4

This session will cover the Unit4 configuration dependencies required to leverage API’s including access, how to publish API’s and where to find supporting documentation.

Session 5

This session will explore the various data extraction use cases for leveraging API’s and objects v’s alternative approaches.

Session 6

This session will introduce testing tools and work through several use case examples to create, update and query data from Unit4 ERP.
